The Black Heroines in my stories are not a collective. Yes, they are strong, independent women, but they are also Lara Croft and Lady MacBeth, Cinderella and Cleopatra, Elizabeth Bennett and Arwen Undómiel--figuratively speaking, of course.
This is why I write fiction, and swear by research.
Did you know the first Romani people, known as Gypsies, are known to have migrated from a region called the Punjab in Northwest India to Europe almost fifteen hundred years ago?
The dark-skinned Gypsy heroine in my novel Treason 1, 2 and (3- The Prequel-i.e the backstory) set in sixteenth century England, is therefore perfectly accurate.
